it didn’t occur to me to make this post until now but this is the artist formerly known as sissyhankshaw and i am probably not gonna be on here anymore… maybe i’ll be back idk, i tried to delete my facebook last year and it didn’t work but tumblr is like a black hole that sucks up my homework time because i’m a lazy procrastinating fuck. i’ve had this blog since 2008 and i am way too sentimental to actually delete it soooo
ok so i’m staying off of here but i’ll miss some of you goons! here’s my facebook or twitter if it’s mutual <3
i assume everyone hates me until they actually tell me that they like/love me and then i still think they hate me

Jesus Christ Walks (Brand New vs. Kanye West) by Hawkins
Oh my god my life just changed.
- Question: Does Aubrey Plaza give a fuck about anything in real life?
- Adam Scott: ... I can read you a text. I hope this embarrasses her. She's in Austin for SXSW so she texted me asking "hey are you in Austin? We should hang", and I said "no, I'm not. Sorry", and she said, "fuck you".
So I’ve realized one of the main things that bothers me about Kony2012 (in addition, of course, to all the commentary floating around about the dubiousness of Invisible Children’s methods/goals/effects, especially in relation to white colonialism/imperialism). Jesus Christ, this thing is everywhere. I already got asked to sign a petition when I was just trying to get into the dining hall for a peanut butter and fluff.
What also really sort of pisses me off is that instead of playing the White Savior / Western Beneficiary with the wrong kinds of programs, all these rich white kids at my college and on Facebook and everywhere in the Kony2012 universe could make a true difference here at home.
You know what else is a form of structural and physical violence? Hunger. Hunger is violence. Nearly one out of five children in the U.S. go to bed hungry every night. Work toward fighting that violence in your own backyard.
I do not understand how people can be so horrified about the rape of African women by savage black men, but they apparently do not even bat an eye when every two minutes, someone in the United States is sexually assaulted.
I don’t want to make it out like Kony isn’t a horrific person who is part of a horrific system. And if you’re dying to get involved, definitely go ahead with one of the Uganda-approved programs we’ve seen going around. But fuck this rich white kid bullshit. I’m tired of people going on service trips to Africa or other countries in the “third world” because it is ~cool and exotic and we are just absolute champions of human rights. We’re not. Actually, we sort of suck at human rights. Remember that.

“The most astounding fact [about the universe] is the knowledge that the atoms that comprise life on earth, the atoms that make up the human body are traceable to the crucibles that cooked light elements into heavy elements in their core under extreme temperatures and pressures. These stars — the high-mass ones among them — went unstable in their later years. They collapsed and then exploded, scattering their enriched guts across the galaxy — guts made of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and all the fundamental ingredients of life itself. These ingredients become part of gas clouds that condense, collapse, form the next generation of solar systems — stars with orbiting planets. And those planets now have the ingredients for life itself. So that when I look up at the night sky, I know that, yes, we are part of this universe, we are in this universe but perhaps more important than both of those facts is that the universe is in us. When I reflect on that fact, I look up — many people feel small because they’re small and the universe is big — but I feel big because my atoms came from those stars. There’s a level of connectivity. That’s really what you want in life. You want to feel connected. You want to feel relevant. You want to feel like you’re a participant in the goings on of activities and events around you. That’s precisely what we are just by being alive.”
